The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at MRK Institute of Technology is committed to producing competent engineers capable of contributing to modern communication systems and electronic technologies.

The program blends strong theoretical foundations with practical exposure in areas such as embedded systems, VLSI, communication networks, signal processing, IoT, and wireless technologies. With state-of-the-art laboratories, experienced faculty members, industry-focused curriculum, and hands-on learning opportunities, the department prepares students to meet the ever-growing demands of the electronics and communication industry. Associate Professor / Head - Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering

Dr. A. Nithya is a dedicated academician, researcher, and academic administrator with over 11 years of teaching experience in Engineering Education. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at MRK Institute of Technology, Cuddalore.

Academic Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Annamalai University, with research specialization in Biomedical Image Processing.
  • M.E. in VLSI Design, 8.2 CGPA, First Class, Silver Medal.
  • B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering, First Class with Distinction.

Areas of Interest

Her major areas of teaching and research include Biomedical Image Processing, VLSI Design, Machine Learning, Signal Processing, and Internet of Things (IoT).

Research Contributions

Dr. Nithya has published research papers in reputed SCI and Scopus-indexed journals and conferences, particularly in Biomedical Image Processing, Medical Image Analysis, Deep Learning, VLSI, and Artificial Intelligence. She has also published three Indian patents and a book titled Embedded System Design Implementation and Applications.

Funding & Academic Leadership

She has received ₹3.5 lakh AICTE-ATAL funding for an FDP and ₹1 lakh AICTE funding for an online FDP. She has also submitted an AICTE–IDEA LAB proposal of ₹1.10 crore.

At MRK Institute of Technology, she has served in key roles including NIRF Coordinator, IEEE Student Branch Counsellor, Entrepreneurship Development Cell Coordinator, NAAC Criterion 3 Coordinator, NBA Criterion 8 Coordinator, and Project Coordinator. She contributed to the successful NAAC process that resulted in A+ accreditation.

Awards & Professional Recognition

She received the Best Faculty Award for her overall academic performance during 2011–2012 and 2012–2013. She has also served as a Session Chair at an International Conference on Signal and Data Processing.

She is a professional member of IEEE, ISTE, MCSTA, and IAENG.
